Tell us a little about yourself — how did you get to where you are today?
I started Sugarlaws as a way to document learning how to cook in a tiny Manhattan apartment, and added posts about fashion, beauty and our home about a year and a half later! I’ve focused it on all the things that I love – or as I like to say, living sweetly.
What do you love most about what you do?
I love getting to feel like I have friends all over the country and all over the world. It’s the most amazing feeling to think that you’re sharing an experience over the Internet in a way that connects so many people – incredibly exciting and really, really cool.
How do you describe your style?
Easy and elegant – I like to keep things laid back, but still stay on trend.
Who are your style icons?
Kate Middleton, obviously! I love how she looks so effortless, but also so totally chic.
From where do you draw inspiration for your style?
Everywhere! Magazines, other blogs, my friends and, obviously, celebrities!
Do you have a favorite piece of clothing?
My Chanel bag. It was a gift from my husband for my birthday/anniversary one year (they are two weeks apart) and it’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever owned… except our puppies, of course!
Where do you like to shop?
I love Saks, Forever 21, Zara and online websites like NET-A-PORTER.
The Shoptiques motto is Be Yourself, Be Different. What’s one thing that truly makes you unique?
Sugarlaws! Starting a blog was this crazy, unique thing to do when I started -- although they've definitely come a long way!
What challenges have you faced so far in your business and how have you overcome them?
It's tough to manage my time! That's a huge issue that's always popping up. I'm trying to remember to carve out time for myself, whether it's a dinner out or a movie night.
What advice would you give to someone who has a dream or talent they want to pursue?
Make it as good as you possibly can! Take the time to learn everything you need to know, and get as good as you possibly can. People forget that effort is a huge part of any success.
What’s one thing people don’t know about you that they’d be surprised to find out?
I’m really good at math. Multivariable calculus was one of my favorite courses in college!
Ten years from now, where would you like to be?
I can hardly imagine! Everything seems crazier every day. But when the dust settles in ten years? I hope to have a happy and healthy family and be able to be continuing with all the exciting pursuits I’ve started now.

What’s the one item that's always in your bag?
My iPhone! I’m lost without it.
Dark chocolate or milk chocolate?
Favorite day of the week?
Plaid, polka dots or floral prints?
Are you a handbag girl or shoe girl?
Handbags, but I used to get scared of ruining my shoes on the sidewalks in NY!
If you could meet one person, who would it be?
Who are the most important people in your life right now?
Chad, Calvin and Coco (our dogs!).
