How do you describe your style?
I would consider my style very feminine, girly and classic. I like to keep things simple with easy silhouettes and pieces I can mix and match together, but I always enjoy a bold accessory, whether it's a statement necklace, bright lipstick or a hat!
What is the most exciting moment you've had as a blogger?
I was recently featured as one of the "Top 5 High-Low Bloggers" in the November issue of People StyleWatch magazine. It was a huge honor that became even MORE amazing when my face and blog were linked on the opening page of peoplestylewatch.com!! It was an amazing surprise to wake up to one morning. I feel very blessed.
What do you love most about boutique shopping?
I always enjoy finding those extra special pieces that you would never be able to find at any old mall. Plus, the customer service and attention you get in local boutiques is always a welcome surprise.
What are your three most prized possessions?
Number 1) I worked at many magazines while living in New York City for four years, and I have a copy of every single one where my name is featured on the masthead. It's a pretty large collection and it's always nice to look back and remember what is was like working on a certain page or funny stories that happened during that time.
Number 2) Cheesy, but I have a stuffed animal appropriately named "Panda" that I've had since I was three. Even at 27-years-old I sleep with it every night....it's a serious security blanket that I can't live without.
Number 3) Working in fashion/being a writer doesn't really pay a ton of money (in case you didn't know!) so I had worked really hard and saved up a ton of money to buy my MacBook Pro with all the bells and whistles. This computer is my lifeline to my work and my blog and has brought me to where I am today. It makes it more special that my hard work is what paid for it and it wasn't just handed to me. Definitely a prized possession!
What inspired you to create your blog? What do you love most about blogging?
I’ve always had a passion for "Under $100" shopping. Working at CosmoGIRL, J-14 and People StyleWatch, I learned a lot about the “mall brands” and how to find quality pieces that don’t cost a lot of money. I finally started Poor Little It Girl™ in July 2010 as an outlet to express my personal views on affordable style. When it comes to what I love most, it's without a doubt interacting with my readers via email and in person, but especially on Twitter. My readers are hilarious and always are there to keep things in perspective.
What are your favorite boutiques in your current city?
My favorite boutique right now in Atlanta has got to be Morgan Kylee. in Buckhead. Her shop offers a lot of great finds from designers you can't find anywhere else in the city...which is refreshing and it's fun to try new styles! Plus, Morgan is an amazing person and so sweet to be around!
