“With Indigo, I set out to create a fragrance that is different from everything else on the market. A fragrance that couldn’t be categorized—not a floral, gourmand, woody, or citrus—something unusual, exotic . . . something indescribable. While working with a master perfumer, I began to reminisce about a month-long trip I took to Europe in 1992 when I first started my career in the fragrance industry.During that trip, I visited all the noteworthy perfumeries in Paris and apothecaries in London because it was so important for me to learn about the history and origins of fragrance. I also went to fine chocolatiers to understand flavors and how they can influence the creation of fragrances. I visited gourmand shops and spice markets and tea shops. I wanted to discover as much as possible! It was in one particular tea shop on Bond Street in London that I experienced the most amazing Moroccan tea aroma. It had me transfixed! It was that exceptional and transformative. When I told my master perfumer this story, it was obvious that exploring notes of Moroccan Tea was an excellent place to start. What developed from there became our remarkable and extraordinary eau de parfum, Indigo.”
