This piece of art was handcrafted in the Central African Republic using gathered insect wings. It is a common practice in the region to use the wings of insects to create art. A lot of African, Latin American and Asian crafters use repurposed materials to create their work. This is one of those pieces. The artists who made our particular pieces, Innocent, past away a few years back. A friend and local DJ in Indianapolis, who hails from the Central African Republic, did make these pieces available in our store for sale so he can keep shopping from this artistic family in CAR (Central African Republic). Innocent's son continues his father's legacy by using wings and reeds to create unique pieces that celebrate African culture and scenery. The piece comes ready to frame. Measurements: 24" long by 15" high.
