All right ladies, with Valentine’s Day right around the corner, I guarantee that most of you in a relationship have men that are completely clueless as to what to get you for this special occasion. To them, Valentine’s Day is just another expectation we have of them to dazzle us with charm, romance and of course the Valentine’s Day gift!
My boyfriend recently asked me the importance of Valentine’s Day. Clearly, just from the look of shock and premeditated disappointment, he could tell this was an area in which he had to tread lightly. The mockery I often receive for placing high value on what he would refer to as “frivolous activities,” in other words the mushy gushy dates us women love, was clearly not an option in this conversation.
Knowing full well that in order to let him in on what I really wanted for Valentine’s Day without actually telling him (as that would ruin the surprise right?), I knew I had to drop him some “subtle” hints. The last thing I wanted was to have to fake a smile on that special day because “it was the thought that counts.”
If you’ve had your eye on a specific item whether it’s a pair of earrings, a bracelet, a purse new shoes, or whatever, a sneaky way for him to see what you’re interested in is to leave the website link open on his computer. Leave open the link to the exact item so it’s right there in front of him when he logs on. If he get suspicious, make it clear that you were not “just browsing the web.” The best response is that “you wanted to make sure that item was still in stock as you’ve had your eye on it for a while now.” THAT is a hint he is more than likely to pick up on.
Now that we have the visual sensory covered, it’s time to tackle the audible sensory. You just happen to be talking to your best friend on the phone while he’s around. This is an ideal time to bring up that special item you’ve had your eyes on. Make sure your man can hear you and that his attention is not too averted. Find a moment when his attention is pulled toward your conversation, and then drop the big hint.
These tactics are easy and can help guarantee that you’re sure to have that genuinely happy grin on your face when you open up that Valentine’s Day present you’ve been waiting for. Just remember, men are typically much more to the point than women. Be subtle, but not overtly. If you seem somewhat interested in that special gift, he won’t pick up on it. Make sure to have enthusiasm and if anything, be blunt.
It also never hurts to do some simple acts of kindness for him as the day nears. The happier you make your man, the happier he’ll want to make you in return.
Wishing you all a Happy Valentine’s Day!
