Meet Carolina!
Here at Shoptiques, we are working hard every day to make sure that the best, most unique clothing from boutiques both in your backyard and across the globe are easily accessible—no matter where your GPS says you are. To do that, we spend long, often champagne-filled, hours producing photo shoots with models we adore, creating content showcasing items and trends we're coveting, and making sure that the experience is as ideal and easy as possible for the customers we love.
For such dedicated followers and fans, the women who have supported Shoptiques from the very beginning (that's all of you), we think it's best that you know who we are so that when you call, order or comment, you know exactly who you are working with.
To begin, we are a group of 10 sitting in Soho offices, down the street from a Chipotle and with a distant view of New Jersey. Our Ikea tables that serve as desks hold our Mac laptops, Quaker Oatmeal Chewys, and the dresses we plan on giving away every Friday (no joke!).
At the core, we are exactly like you, women on a mission to help other women feel confident and beautiful as they strive after their goals, whether that goal is to be the world's best mom or the next Apple CEO—or both. We believe you deserve to have it all!
What do you do at Shoptiques?
I take care of our fabulous customers and make sure that our product reaches — and exceeds — expectation.
Where are you from?
I actually have triple nationality; born in Brazil, raised in Portugal and the daughter of a proud Swiss. Citizen of the world, I guess.
What's your favorite thing about New York?
I am a self proclaimed novelty experience addict but interestingly enough, my favorite thing about NYC is the fact that one is able to live locally: to have a favorite deli and become BFF's with the dude who makes your Starbucks coffee around the corner. In New York you can be a stranger and a friend, depending on which side of the bed you roll out of on any given morning. That is priceless.
Why Shoptiques?
For the adventure, the passion and the drive. I have never worked in fashion before, but I have always worked with people and I thrive in challenging and dynamic environments. What ultimately drew me into this fabulous project was the the ability to believe and be part of a project and a team that is both creative and successful. Shoptiques is about much more than fashion - it celebrates the modern lady, who wouldn't want to be part of that?
What are your favorite boutiques?
Story Tailors (has yet to be featured once we expand our wings). A small boutique in my hometown that not only caters to the general public, but also designs the costumes for the theater and the ballet.
What does be yourself, be different mean to you?
At a time when self worth is constantly challenged by changing notions of beauty and value, "be yourself be different" reminds me to not just embrace the unique features of my personality, but to build on them. Embracing difference inspires me to constantly strive for a better me, not necessarily to change who I am, but to embrace the change that can can help me develop as a person. There is no growth without change and my aim in life is to keep growing and keep fighting for my passions and my dreams. They too will evolve over time - so I can be myself, but constantly different.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
My personal mantra: Luck finds you when you are working.
Who are your role models and why?
This is admittedly the hardest question but after some consideration I have to admit that my role models are personal, and not particularly public; I once worked for a lady who fought so hard for her cause (protecting children against violence), that she was present when the declaration of children"s rights was negotiated and created, and, was able to establish and run a successful mission to save children from all kinds of violence, as the SRSG of non violence against children for UNICEF. I personally believe that success must be a hybrid of personal and professional life, and this lady raised her own family, spread love and knowledge - all whilst working against the clock and her budget, to save thousands of unknown families across the globe.

"When I shop, the key things I look for are: elegance, "snazz" and versatility. Personally, I feel like this piece embodies all three key aspects; the light color is smooth and chic but the skin colored patterns and the open back add character and flare. More importantly, I feel like I could wear this dress anywhere. For an evening cocktail, beneath a black blazer to work or even for a night out - once I pair it with my killer black heels!"

"In my opinion this sequin mini is the perfect embodiment of spring! Young, colorful and hip it is elegant and form fitting but can also be paired with a number of outfits to suit any occasion. Once again, versatility is key here. I can see myself wearing this skirt with a plain black top and simple sandals during the summer, or pairing it with an open back-black top for a special occasion. The fact that the skirt is 100% silk also tells me that I am getting quality, with flare! Who could ask for more?"

"In a departure from the previous items, what I enjoy the most about the python leather bag is it's discreetness. This is the kind of purse that I can wear every single day, and every occasion too. It has great dimensions that allow it to be small enough for a night out, but just the right size to fit in the essentials that us girls like to carry with us on a daily basis.
Admittedly, the fact that this purse comes from one of our boutiques in Paris adds even more value to it, in my eyes - with this piece I will never have to worry about walking into a room and spotting someone with the same bag. Like all of our Shoptiques items, it is unique, and so immensely valuable for it!"
