Decode
Beginning with a recipe from the 1940s, we started by decoding the handwritten instructions above. Trust us when we say that THIS was the hardest part. Here's what we got out of it:
"Melt over hot water, bag Kraft caramel.
Half cup plain peanut butter.
2 cuprs rice crispies
Stir in peanut butter with caramel.
Mix in rice crispies.
Put in greased pan. Cut in squares."

Gather
Gathering the ingredients once we figured out exactly what they were was easy. Though, we did make a few changes here and there. For instance, instead of pouring it onto a sheet and cutting it, we made cupcakes out of them instead. Here's a rundown:
- Rice Crispies
- Bag of Kraft Caramel candies
- Chocolate Icing
- Peanut Butter (preferably non-crunchy, but we got crunchy anyway...)
- Cupcake sheets

Measure
One cup of plain (whoops, we used crunchy) peanut butter.

Measure
Two cups rice crispies.

Mix
Mix peanut butter with caramel and stir in rice crispies.
Trust us when we say that this part gets messy. REAL messy. Also, a fair warning, be careful with the hot caramel. It can literally burn the skin off of your fingers. Don't ask how we know this to be true, but we do.

Additional Steps
As mentioned, we added a few of our own steps to the mix. Here, we poured the mix into cupcake sheets and then frosted with chocolate.

Final Outcome
It may not be pretty, but these little cupcake crispies were delicious! If your New Years resolution was to stay far away from sweets, these are not something you'll want to make, because you'll have a hard time resisting.
On the other hand, if your New Years resolution was to bake more and hang out with friends, this recipe is fun, easy and short, and provides for tons of laughs and good eats.
As always, be yourself, be different and never stop inspiring, empowering and celebrating yourself, your friends and your loved ones.
Happy baking!
