About the Boutique
How long have you been operating?
Underwear opened its doors on September 4th 2004 and will be celebrating its 9th birthday this year.
Describe the vibe of your boutique?
In essence, Underwear is intimate apparel in an intimate setting. Joel Mozersky, an established Austin interior designer, designed Underwear’s interior. To highlight just a few aspects of Mozersky’s work, Underwear features a hand-painted ceiling, subtle tones and chandelier lighting. The décor compliments the femininity and outstanding quality of our lingerie and loungewear.
Where do your pieces come from? What’s your curation process?
Underwear’s pieces come from all over. We feature not only various domestic lines, but also pieces from France and Canada. Since I have had the pleasure of helping countless women select the perfect lingerie for many years, I have learned a great deal about the needs and desires of women when it comes to undergarments. This learning process has greatly influenced and affected my curation. I look for pieces that have a great fit and consist of fabrics that any woman would want to wear all day. Therefore, in planning Underwear’s inventory, my primary goal in assessing a lingerie line is to find the perfect combination of fit, fabric and uniqueness of style.

About the Customers & Owner
Who is your customer?
Women who understand the importance of foundational pieces and want an individualized shopping experience are frequent shoppers at Underwear. I love getting to know what works best for my customers and having a variety of items for them to try.
What pieces does she most covet?
Everything Eberjey flies off the rack. They are our top seller in loungewear and their teddies are quick to sell-out.
What’s the most important thing you’ve learned as an entrepreneur and fashion buyer?
The most important thing I’ve learned is that you can’t have it all! There are so many beautiful lines, pieces, and lingerie in general. If I could have it my way, I would house them all right here. Unfortunately that is not the way it works. I listen to my gut to say the least and strive to pick the best pieces in a variety of styles and price ranges.
What are some must-have pieces in your wardrobe now?
My staple “everyday” bra is the Rive Gauche Demi T-shirt Bra by Chantelle in Cappuccino. A great strapless is always key. I love the Cupcake Strapless by Huit in Noir. Since I am an avid runner I am addicted to the Commando Thong for a seamless look under my running tights. After a long day I get excited to throw on the Gisele Short PJ’s by Eberjey. I have them in Navy but I love the new Spearmint they have this spring! Last but definitely not least is having a set that makes you feel like a knockout. I always turn to Stella McCartney for this department. I personally love her Clemence Baking Bustier Bra and Bikini in Royal Purple.
What importance does fashion play in your life?
Fashion sets the tone for my day. I love being able to feel feminine, comfortable and confident in whatever I am wearing. That goes for my undergarments as well. I hate to admit it, but I actually pick out my bra and panties for the day first. I tend to be a little matchy with my underwear and outfit.
What do you love most about being a boutique owner?
I will never get enough of the feeling when I help a woman find lingerie that makes her feel confident and feminine. What we wear underneath is just as important as what we wear on the outside.
