Oh, how the fornlorn days of warmer weather tear at my soul. No, but really - spring needs to get here, and soon. I miss the colors, the silhouettes, the smells; you know, all the things about spring that make people write in poem-like verses.
In the meantime, as I impatiently await the season's arrival, I'll be picking up frocks like this so that when the first above 60 degree day hits, I'll be ready.
Spiked-Collar Dress, That Shuu Girl
I get it, color blocking was so 2012, but you can't hate on a dress that color blocks in a way that'll make you look five pounds smaller. I don't know about you, but my winter eating habits haven't been kind to what I hope will eventually be my bikini-ready body. While I start focusing on heading to the gym, which is still only an idea at this point, a dress that does the work for me is ideal.

Oh, Downton Abbey, how you have kept me warm on many a winter night. It still amazes me how such a wealthy family in the early 1900s can have more problems than a less than middle class gal in the new millennium, but man do those Crowley's make our lives seem easy or what? I may not be in wont of their ordeals, but I am certainly in want of their fashion and this dress hits the spot.

Anais Nin once wrote, "And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom," which I interrupt as me needing to get over my fear of wearing florals in the spring merely because everyone else will be doing it. The key to standing out in a similar pattern, you ask? Find it on an unusual piece. This floral bomber will keep me in Slyvia Plath's good graces by "being different. And these girls are all the same.”

Before we get too crazy and start thinking that spring weather is only a month away (it definitely isn't), let's take a step back and remember that it will be cold for quite a bit longer. A New Yorker by way of Texas, I've learned the hard way that winter above the mason-dixon often lasts well into May.
So, to prep, an oversized tweet jacket will last through the last snow fall and be a perfect addition to my fashion week wardrobe.
Boucle Chain Jacket, Chouchounette
I'll admit it, I've yet to buy a peplum despite all the writing I've done to encourage you to do so. Truth is, I just haven't found one that's spoken to me - you know how it is. But when a leather studded, loosely fitted one comes around, I've always said, then I just have to give in.
Leather Peplum Top, Chouchounette
No pre-spring lust list would be complete without a pair of shorts. My legs have been hiding under layers of tights and jeans or much too long and when they finally get out to see the daylight, I'm afraid they won't know what hit them. In all honestly, I don't care if I have to double up on my sunscreen use, when warmer weather hits, these shorts will be a weekly staple, stripes and all.
