How do you describe your style?
Eclectic, international and colorful. I get my sense of style from my Nana who is WAY cooler than I will ever be. She raised me with an appreciation for all things vintage and I remember as a young girl pouring over all of her copies of Vogue from the 60s and 70s. I also travel a lot and take style cues from all of the places I go, which in the past year have included Paris, London, Dakar and the Caribbean.
What is the most exciting moment you've had as a blogger?
There have been so many, but since we're talking fashion, I'll go that direction: having Janie Bryant, the costume designer for MadMen tell me that she really liked my dress! I just about died. It was a particularly flattering compliment because it was a vintage men's shirt from the 80s that had been remade into a cute and feminine number.
What do you love most about boutique shopping?
That I can find really unique pieces to compliment the rest of my pieces. I do not like wearing things that everyone else has so I find that in boutiques I can find truly singular items.
What are your three most prized possessions?
An African thumb piano that was given to me when living in France. My camera, I love documenting my adventures! My bikes. I live in San Francisco where you can bike year round and I go everywhere on two wheels.
What inspired you to create your blog? What do you love most about blogging?
I needed a place to document my journey in beginning to wear my hair natural. At first it was for me and now it's for my community, who comes to read about my tips, techniques, product reviews, travel and all of the crazy things I'm constantly doing to my hair. I love blogging because it allows for endless, and I mean ENDLESS, creativity in what I produce. If I dream it up, I know I can make it happen!
What are your favorite boutiques in your San Francisco?
San Francisco is all about the vintage for me! I love Held Over on Haight Street and Dina Louise on Divisadero. The 16th and Valencia area has become a hot bed of up and coming designers so I love going over there as well! I've also got to give a shout out to EVarize in Berkeley who is an amazing cut and sew designer that has awesome one of a kind pieces.
