Hailee Steinfeld is best known for her performance as Mattie Ross in the recent Coen brothers’ remake of the classic Western True Grit. Steinfeld has already proven her acting chops, holding her own opposite the likes of Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon. She now shows she is no lightweight in the style department either. Excepting the Peter Pan style choker around her neck, there is nothing childish about the actress’ ensemble.
While most sixteen year olds would view a red carpet event as a chance to go over the top, Steinfeld is subdued and sophisticated in a high-necked, cap-sleeved dress with a stiff, full skirt. Rather than downplay the dress’s unusual black and navy color combination, Steinfeld embraced it, selecting strappy sandals in the same deep-blue hue as the dress’s bodice. While she shows she’s no debutante, Steinfeld also does not err too far in the opposite direction, dressing older than her age. Her clean, fresh-faced make-up, and the sweet barrette used to hold her long locks off of her face are the perfect finishing touches.
Flip through as we show you how to steal her sophicated but sweet style.

Nipped and Tucked
This cap-sleeve number has the same structure and charm as Hailee’s fitted frock.

All Buttoned Up
Hailee keeps it classy with a high neckline. Do the same in this button-front dress with a stiff, standing collar.

Black and Blue
A long-sleeved, silk tunic in blue and black offers the same color clash appeal as Hailee’s dressier choice. A touch of white at the collar allows the opposing hues to pop even more.

Flora and Fauna
The lotus shape of this choker necklace lends a feminine feel to an otherwise tough style.
