There’s nothing new about rocking a tux on the red carpet. Strong female leads have been borrowing from the boys as far back as Marlene Dietrich, and it’s an edgy take on traditional men’s formal wear that we love! Kristen Stewart kept the look fresh and original at a recent premiere of Snow White and the Huntsman by infusing classic staples with her signature rocker vibe. A mandarin collar spruced up an otherwise conservative white blouse and double-breasted black jacket combo. Stewart’s suit swayed towards the feminine side, as she opted for a skirt rather than trousers. Matte black studs lent this pleated number its sharp, modern appeal. A simple ponytail, smoky eye, and a pair of pointy two-tone heels rounded out the look, which will be forever memorable for all the right reasons!

Variation on a Tux
A pared down take on Le Smoking makes for excellent office attire as well as a fun ensemble that will set you apart from your girlfriends on your next night out. The slim cut of this fitted black cotton blazer (a terrific wardrobe-building basic) is a more universally flattering silhouette than Stewart’s tricky-to-pull-off double-breasted selection.

Classic with a Twist

Chic Shorts
Stewart’s flared miniskirt kept the silhouette youthful and girlie and (through studded detailing) lent the outfit a tough, rebellious vibe. These leather-inspired shorts offer polish that’s at once trendy and unexpected. And the fabric’s sheen reads more Jagger than Fred Astaire.
