You might not think of Sydney as a fashion capitol. But while some e-commerce buyers were grumbling about the organization of the shows and being delegated to the second row (gasp!), the designs speak for themselves. Although the runways echoed the monchromatic styles seen in past fashion weeks in this season, there were some surprises — Aussie fashion darling Camilla Franks' show had llamas, teepees, Peruvian pipers and Georgia May Jagger.

Not everyone went black and white this season. Although the neons from last spring were noticibly absent, designers embraced tribal prints, bright hues and exuberant beaded accents. Since it may seem too much to fully deck yourself out in vibrant prints and colors head-to-toe (and since a caftan is hardly practical), look for pieces that you can incorporate into your existing wardrobe. While colorful combinations capture the fun and playfulness of this trend, you can also draw inspiration from the abstract shapes and forms. This gold and black cuff might not have color, but the angular forms keep it tribal. Tribal styles are meant to be casual: don't wear anything too tight or constraining.

Color blocking, stripes and dots, crisp lines — who doesn't miss the '60s? To have your Twiggy moment, look for high contrast pieces like this long-sleeved dress or capri dress pant. The mod trend is all about being youthful, so avoid anything too form-fitting and instead look for high necklines and longer sleeves. While this model might look a bit silly with her shades on indoors, the style is stylish and fun nonetheless. For a playful retro touch, match the color of your sunglasses to your outfit. You'll be hitting the monochromatic trend and the mod trend all at once!

A graphic print is all about the impact. So when you're trying to emulate this trend, the bigger the better. You can be edgy and punky and look to darker inspirations, like this bone bomber jacket, or you can head the more playful, charming route with a more lighthearted print like the on on this pinapple swimsuit. Whatever you choose, commit with your makeup, hair and even your nails.
