Tell us a little about yourself—how did you get to where you are today?
I’ve always been fashion obsessed and a bit of a shopaholic so when I started following blogs a few years ago I remember asking myself how was it possible that I hadn’t started one myself! Well, I finally did and Fashion Truffles was born in August 2011 as a creative outlet for my fashion obsessed self. I never thought it would become what it is today!
What do you love most about what you do?
I’m always meeting new people and networking. That’s the best. There are so many amazing men and women out there that truly inspire me and bring out the best of me. The blogosphere allows you to follow your dreams and put yourself out there.
How do you describe your style?
I’m a girl that loves her basics. A chic, casual style is my go-to – the t-shirt, blazer, skinny jeans, booties, and statement jewelry kind of look.
Who are your style icons?
Olivia Palermo, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Taylor Tomasi Hill, Viviana Volpicella, and Miroslava Duma.
From where do you draw inspiration for your style?
The streets of NYC and fellow bloggers are my constant style inspiration.
Do you have a favorite piece of clothing?
Right now it would be my Helmut Lang black blazer. It’s one of those pieces that you can wear with anything and never tire of it.
Where do you like to shop?
I have a serious online shopping addiction. It’s bad. My favorites are Shopbop, Net-a-Porter, Saks, Piperlime and The Outnet.
The Shoptiques motto is Be Yourself, Be Different. What’s one thing that truly makes you unique?
Well, I guess I could say I’m a math geek. My day job is as a Financial Accountant and that alone living proof of the math geek that lives within. I guess that’s a good thing since I can budget my expenses and shop more effectively (kinda).
What challenges have you faced so far in your business and how have you overcome them?
I think the hardest thing about blogging is gaining a consistent readership. I’m not sure how I got as many readers as I have, but I work really hard to maintain it. I read a lot of blogs, try to respond to every email I receive (no matter how silly it may be), and attend networking events to keep building relationships within the blogging community.
What advice would you give to someone who has a dream or talent they want to pursue?
Go for it! Opportunities only come by once so don’t let them go because of fear. I always ask myself “what’s the worst that could happen?” and find that the answer to that question is never that bad.

60 Second Spotlight
What’s one thing people don’t know about you that they’d be surprised to find out?
Spanish is my first language! Whenever I tell people that I’m Puerto Rican they automatically assume that my parents are Puerto Rican and I was born here. But no, I was born and raised in San Juan, my whole family is still there, and I moved to the DC for college and decided to stay here permanently.
Ten years from now, where would you like to be?
Still in NYC, splitting my time between blogging and a more independent Accounting career.
What’s the one item that's always in your bag?
La Mer lip balm.
Dark chocolate or milk chocolate?
Favorite day of the week?
Black and Gold.
Plaid, polka dots or floral prints?
Are you a handbag girl or shoe girl?
If you could meet one person, who would it be?
Who are the most important people in your life right now?
My family and friends. They’re my life.
